SERVICES
There are two main modalities of interpretation: simultaneous and consecutive. Below, you will find a summary of each. We would love to assist you in choosing the perfect match for your specific needs and budget.
Simultaneous Interpretation:
The interpreter translates the speech into the target language in real time and without interruptions. Simultaneous interpretation can be delivered on-site or online. The on-site setup may require a full soundproof booth, tabletop booth or portable equipment. Online simultaneous interpretation can be done through ZOOM, among other platforms.
Consecutive Interpretation:
The interpreter waits for the speaker to pause and then transmits the information in the target language. Bear in mind that this modality doubles the time of the event or meeting. There are two consecutive interpretation styles:
1- Short consecutive:
The speaker stops at short intervals, and the interpretation is done phrase by phrase. In this submodality the interpreter doesn’t necessarily need to take notes. Perfect for dynamic meetings or presentations.
2- Long consecutive:
The speaker talks for a longer period and then pauses for the interpreter to transmit the information in the target language. In this submodality the interpreter needs to take notes. Ideal for more formal settings that require less mobility.
Consecutive interpretation can also be done on-site or online. It’s a common modality in the legal environment for depositions, examinations under oath, hearings, among others.
Please feel free to contact us if you are not sure which modality best suits you.
